Elay Kadosh was born, raised, and has been living and studying in Tel Aviv, Israel. At the age of 13, after listening to a Paul Chambers record, Elay fell head over heels in love with this music and began playing the double bass. He studied jazz at the Tel Aviv Municipal City High-School A – School of Arts. Elay studied privately with Barak Mori and Eli Magen (the Israel Philharmonic) – one of Israel’s top and highly regarded bass players (jazz and classical). Elay has been selected by the IDF to do his military service as a “Musician of Excellence" – an exclusive status reserved for a handful of the top musical talents. In 2015 he won a scholarship for Young Jazz musicians at the Red Sea Jazz Festival workshop. He won scholarships for young and promising artists (distinguished excellence) from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation, three different times, between the years 2016-2021. In 2018 Elay won the ALMA contest award for Excellent Jazz Player. A few years ago Elay had the privilege to attend two workshops with Dr. Barry Harris. Later he studied with George Mraz, a bass legend in New York. More recently, he took private lessons with Maestro Ron Carter, Ben Wolfe, Ulysses Owens jr., Ari Roland, Reuben Rogers, Neal Miner, Paul Gill and Andy McKee. Elay was accepted into the 2020 JAS (Jazz Aspen Snowmass) academy in collaboration with the Frost School of Music, University of Miami full scholarship summer program, under the guidance of Maestro Christian McBride. Elay plans to release his debut EP, including original music, this year (2021). In 2020 Elay was accepted into The New School jazz program, with full scholarship, where he currently is a freshman.
