«“[Kristian] not only favours a fleet-fingered, hip swinging, soul-bop but draws as well from the subtle, gentle lyricism of guitarists such as John Abercrombie and Pat Metheny.”

About the participant

Danish born Kristian Borring, now based in London, has in recent years built his name as a skillful guitarist with great melodic sense and sophisticated harmonic understanding, equally mastering the standard repertoire as well as original material “A guitarist of enormous technical ability who utilizes his considerable gifts thoughtfully and tastefully.” (THE JAZZ MANN).In 2011 Borring received numerous reviews when releasing his album “Nausicaa” displaying also his compositional skills. “An assured and confident debut, demonstrating Borring's talents as a composer and player…impressive first release.” (ALL ABOUT JAZZ).The Guardian's John Fordham describes Kristian's music as “[with] understatedly swinging feel … grooving and assymetric.” About Kristian himself he says: "a traditionally hyper-cool and low-key approach to jazz guitar, but reprises it with warmth, confidence and a rhythmic hipness that's thoroughly contemporary.” This description was perhaps reinforced by Selwyn Harris in Jazzwise: [Kristian] not only favours a fleet-fingered, hip swinging, soul-bop but draws as well from the subtle, gentle lyricism of guitarists such as John Abercrombie and Pat Metheny.”This year, chosen as pick of the week in The Guardian, the Quartet packed out their concert at the Oxford Jazz Festival, and did it again during their performance at the London Jazz Festival.Текст под ВП: “[Kristian] not only favours a fleet-fingered, hip swinging, soul-bop but draws as well from the subtle, gentle lyricism of guitarists such as John Abercrombie and Pat Metheny.”Selwyn Harris, Jazzwise
