At the age of 9 Yuri graduated from a children’s music school flute class. Studying there he started to play a contrabass and fell in love with this instrument and its sound forever. Yuri’s parents presented to him the Fender Jazz Bass when he was 12 years old and then he started studying the bass-guitar and Arievich’s etudes. He also plays drums and a guitar. Yuri played in different styles, but came to jazz. In this genre of music he prefers such styles as bebop, swing, free-jazz, cool-jazz and mainstream… Yuri considers himself as an amateur, the bass-guitar performance is his hobby.
