With the passion and vibrant energy of the New York jazz scene, Thomas Galliano released his first quintet album titled, " Walking Towards the Unknown" under the label Fresh Sound New Talent alongside Myron Walden on saxophone and album producer, Luques Curtis and Peter Slavov on bass, Victor Gould on piano, Philip Dyzack and Josh Evans on trumpet. Born in 1983 in Nice, France, the young drummer was surrounded by an array of rich musical influences. His father, a guitarist introduced him to the world of rehearsals and performances and his mother was a longtime host for FIP music radio. At home, "Heavy Weather", the album from the band "Weather Report", ran in a continuous loop. Early on, Thomas Galliano discovered the music of Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and the great drummer Elvin Jones who he met as a child during a performance at the Nice Jazz Festival. Meeting Elvin Jones left a lasting impression upon the young drummer. He gave him his own drum sticks after the performance further igniting his passion for music. Drawn by the drums, at the age of 7, he attended the Music Conservatory of Nice where he studied classical percussion with professor Jacques Carré. After a few years he joined the jazz department to study with drum teacher Jean-Paul Ceccarelli. In 2002, he split his time between Nice and Paris to study with the percussionist Gérard Carocci and drummer Mokhtar Samba. A few years later he joined his father on stage to mark the start of his career. Soon after Thomas was hired for a tour in Italy with renowned saxophonist Paul Jeffrey, who played with the quartet of Thelonious Monk and other artists such as Clark Terry, Dizzy Gillespie, Lionel Hampton, and B.B. King. He was also an arranger for Charles Mingus. In 2007, Paul Jeffrey invited Thomas to New York. It was on this trip that he discovered the city and fell in love with the New York jazz scene. Upon returning to France he decided to go back and spend more time in New York. During his performance at Sweet Rhythm Jazz Club, Roy Hargrove came to sit in with the band and from the side of the stage Roy observed and complimented Thomas on his playing. At this moment he knew he wanted to live in New York City. During his time there he shared the stage with talented musicians such as Myron Walden, Ed Cherry, Rick Margitza, Dezron Douglas, Eric Legnini, Pierre De Bethmann, Eric Wyatt, Emanuele Cisi, Logan Richardson, Habib Faye, Ablaye Cissoko, Stacy Dillard, Benito Gonzalez, Romain Pilon, among many others.
