Max Acree is a 22 year old jazz musician from Cincinnati, Ohio. He says: “As long as I can remember jazz has been a part of my life, my father was a professional jazz trombonist whom was on the Tommy Dorsey orchestra. The love for improvisation, being spontaneous has always been with me. Quite simply it was also the only thing that occurred to me as a possible profession.” His love for jazz runs deep, and as time has gone on he has constantly searched for ways to improve his playing and get deeper into the art form. As a result his interests in the different styles of jazz has become very wide, all the way from traditional New Orleans styles to post bop, free bop and beyond. Some of his greatest musical idols growing up were figures such as Urbie Green, Bill Watrous, Carl Fontana and Frank Rosolino. Over the years it has become people more like John Coltrane, Woody Shaw, Elliot Mason, Hal Crook, Freddie Hubbard, Dave Liebman, and Michael Brecker. He always listens to new music and rooting himself in new concepts and new ideas in order to be the best musician he can be.
